Jun - SASAKI

Download biography (pdf)

Jun-SASAKI was born in Japan in 1963. After finishing his studies at Tokyo Fine-Art School, Jun-SASAKI moved to New York where he received a scholarship from the E. McDowell Foundation to travel across Europe. Since then, he has lived and worked in Paris.
Jun Works in metal, glass and wood and organizes objects found in nature (seeds, stones, feathers and shells). Mixing sculpture and poetry, he creates sculptures that seem to be moved by invisible threads. His « machines » are animated by such phenomena as magnetism, lens refraction, manipulation of the density of various liquids, etc...
An imposing mass of steel frames a fragile element, which, with a slight movement, vibrates in the air. The poles of magnets, sometimes in harmony, sometimes opposed, breathe life into a floating and poetic universe.
